School Readiness Project

The ACECC School Readiness (SR) Project began in 2002. It is a program designed to improve the school readiness of children ages five years and younger in child care sites that feed into low-performing Title 1 elementary schools. The mission of this project is for the ACECC School Readiness Team to collaborate with early care and education professionals in preschools, child-care centers and family child-care homes through an active partnership to improve the quality of the learning environments and promote school readiness in all children.

The School Readiness Project Focuses on Key Areas of Quality Care and Education

  • Prepare sites for a program evaluation from Qualistar and provide funding for the Qualistar rating.
  • Provide highly skilled and well-trained consultants to provide coaching, modeling and technical assistance with early childhood programs to plan and implement developmentally appropriate practice in the learning environment.
  • Provide resources to support staff in early childhood settings with their professional development.
  • Provide resources and materials and equipment to enhance the quality of the learning environment.
  • Provide resources and strategies to improve family partnerships within the early childhood programs.
